Foxy Big Sur

Here are some pictures I snapped at the recent Fleet Foxes show at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur… I know!!  Remember when we saw the Tallest Man on Earth play there last year?

Happy Birthday, California!

Sending out a happy 161st birthday to my home sweet home, the golden state of California!  Somebody has been on a Katy Perry kick in our house these days and she’s right about one thing: Nothing comes close to the Golden Coast.

Isn’t this CA map pretty?  You can buy it on Etsy right here.

Hazing into Parenthood

I had this whole blog post written in my head about our wild road trip home from OC, but a few days have past and the intensity has pretty much faded.  Basically it involved a failed attempt to drive home in one day, a rattlesnake*, us almost driving off with the gas pump still in the car, spending $1.25 on my dinner from the hotel vending machine (cup o’ noodles!) and the most incredible luggage jenga game I’ve ever played.  All while Josh was on the verge of vomit.

But it was so pretty!  The scenery reminded me of a some William Wendt peices that were on display at the Orange County Museum of Art when I interned there years ago… Also, I am thanking my lucky stars for the Lullaby station on Pandora.

So we are home now and much happier and healthier.  Ahhhh…

*We pulled over to feed the bambina near santa barbara and I swear on my life, I heard a rattlesnake in the brush next to me!  I yelled “Get in the car!” at the top of my lungs and 2 seconds later we were gone.  Phew!

Oh HI!

Umm hello please!  I am totally slacking here.  Talitha turned 6 weeks yesterday!  At her one month appointment, she had gained 2 lbs and 2 inches, so she’s just about fully grown at this point.

Gosh, so much has happened since my last post it’s hard to know where to begin.  Our 2nd anniversary was July 11, so we took a little road trip up to Napa Valley for the day and brought Tilly & Tank along.  It was wonderful, we visited 2 restaurants featured on Best Thing I Ever Ate: english muffins from The Model Bakery in St. Helena and burgers from Paula’s Phatburger in Mill Valley.  The english muffins were to die for but the burgers were just okay.  We also went wine tasting at our favorite winery, Chateau St Jean, but the highlight of the day was just strolling through downtown Mill Valley in the late afternoon sun.  What a picturesque little town!

Today’s picture is ridiculous and warms my heart on a level I didnt know was possible.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

I can’t wait till we have kids this rad.  Aunt Rose and Aunt Annie – california cuties!

Surfwise

Surfwise – Have you seen it? This documentary tells the story of Doc Paskowicz who, with the help of his wife, raised 9 kids in a 24 foot RV, traveling around the world to new surfing destinations.  It’s weird and wonderful and Josh and I loved it (surprise) – there’s a great review here.  Last time I checked it was On Demand on Comcast for free…

Katie Daisy

I’ve never met her, but I think we’d get along quite nicely.  Check out her happy artwork!

It’s been such a dreary May, Katie Daisy’s website & etsy shop are a suitable replacement for sunshine.

Beachy Keen

This beach bag DIY is awesome.  I made one similar a while back, but I like these straps & the misaligned stripes.  I’d add an applique to one of the sides – perhaps the state of california or a poppy? maybe a ship wheel?  If you’ve got beach plans any time soon, you should make your way to Liz’s site and get sewing!

California Love

So gorgeous.  So rad.  So expensive.  So worth it?

Take a closer look here.

Losing an hour sleep is okay, especially when you get to spend the other 22 hours in places like this with people you love.
