Oh HI!

Umm hello please!  I am totally slacking here.  Talitha turned 6 weeks yesterday!  At her one month appointment, she had gained 2 lbs and 2 inches, so she’s just about fully grown at this point.

Gosh, so much has happened since my last post it’s hard to know where to begin.  Our 2nd anniversary was July 11, so we took a little road trip up to Napa Valley for the day and brought Tilly & Tank along.  It was wonderful, we visited 2 restaurants featured on Best Thing I Ever Ate: english muffins from The Model Bakery in St. Helena and burgers from Paula’s Phatburger in Mill Valley.  The english muffins were to die for but the burgers were just okay.  We also went wine tasting at our favorite winery, Chateau St Jean, but the highlight of the day was just strolling through downtown Mill Valley in the late afternoon sun.  What a picturesque little town!

Today’s picture is ridiculous and warms my heart on a level I didnt know was possible.

we’re alive!

hi hi.  Just checking in.  This newborn thing is harder than I thought!  Things have definitely gotten easier during the last 2.5 weeks, but every day presents us with a new challenge.  Good thing Talitha is so dang cute and kissable!

I’m really looking forward to the day that she smiles back at us and reciprocates the love a little.  Right now her smiles are super cute, but they are mostly a result of farting or burping, haha.  This morning at 6:30 I went through 4 diapers in 10 minutes, and got peed on 3 times.  I don’t really know how it happened but I just kept laughing… she is pretty remarkable.

Tank is being such a gentleman, I’m really impressed with how gentle and curious he is with the baby.  You can tell he’s a little gloomy, but who wouldn’t be?  We’re doing our best to give him lots of lovin when we can.  I’ve just about mastered the technique of feeding the baby with one hand and giving Tank a belly rub with the other.  Also taking him on a daily walk, just the two of us, is always a highlight of my day!  I can play whatever loud, obscene music I want and it’s only me that can hear it.  Today was Led Zeppelin, followed by Ke$ha.

Tomorrow I’m going to my first post-partum yoga class – not sure if I’ll bring Talitha or not, but she is welcome to come, according to the Yoga Tree website.  How cool!

ahhhh

I’ve been on a yoga kick lately.  Gotta strengthen that core!  Maybe soon Tank can start coming to class with me.

Best Day Ever.

Sunday was perfect.  Josh and I took Tank on a lovely walk through the park, stopping to smell the flowers and just enjoying all of the activities going on there.  Sundays they close the main road down, so everyone’s out roller skating, riding bikes, swing dancing, sun bathing, etc.  It’s the best.  Once Tank was good and tired, we dropped him off at home and rode our bikes to the beach, Park Chalet to be exact.  We had lunch on the lawn there and listened to an awesome band who played all of my favorite beatles songs.  I honestly hope I never forget this day – it’s what life and love are all about.

Max Yasgur

I walk past this every day with Tank & I always think what a sweet homage to Woodstock it is.  It says Max Yasgur lives, in case you can’t read it… So perfect for my Haight Ashbury neighborhood!

I’m still convinced we should name our first son Woodstock Pendleton (nick named Woody of course).  We get some weird looks when we tell people it’s in consideration, but I think it’s AWESOME.

Tank’s New Bed

Remember a few weeks ago when I was working on a doggie bed for Tank?  Here’s the final product!  (I tried to get him to smile, but I think this face is pretty funny too… he makes it when you go: “Bonnnnngggggggg”)

And here are the steps I took to make it:

1) We got new bath towels, so I took an old one and dyed it green.

2) See the final product!  (Next to a similar original white towel)

3)I bought some foam padding at the craft store down the street and cut the it so it’d fit perfectly in Tank’s crate.  Then I cut the towel down to fit around the foam, and sewed it up with my sewing machine.

4) This was my favorite part… I used embroidery thread to do some tufting.  It turned out pretty cute, but honestly not as cute as I had imagined.  In the end we decided that Tank would try to destroy the thread from the tufting, so we put that part on the bottom.  :(

5) We let him try it out before it went in the crate…He love it!

6)The before and after.  Before all he had was a U-Haul blanket and an old scratchy rug.  Now he can use those to snuggle up with and he has a nice padded layer on the bottom.  Success!

Beach Trippin’

Tank and I walked to the beach on Sunday and it was gorgeous!  I wore my trusty yellow striped TOMS.  It was about 7 miles round trip, so he was nice and tired when we got home.  We live at the East end of Golden Gate park, and the beach is at the West end, so the whole walk was an adventure.  Plus on Sundays they close down the majority of JFK Avenue, so people can ride bikes, skate, etc in the streets without having to watch for cars.
